First: Removing the cover
The rear right of the QX-10
Note the white circles. You must then remove two Phillips head screws found there. There may be a small piece of plastic that covers the opening. Set that aside. Leave the metal plate there; it is only removed if you had a QX-10 "Option" board installed. Remove the option board cover. Set that aside too.

The left side of the QX-10
Note the white circles, center left and right. You must remove two larger Phillips head screws here.

The right side of the QX-10
Note the white circles, bottom left and right. These locations are usually covered with a little plastic cap. Use a flat-edged screwdriver to pry them off. You must then remove two larger Phillips head screws there. Now, the two halves should be able to be seperated. Do so carefully, and there are cables between the two halves, Be especially careful of a grounding wire between the video board and the floppy mounting bracket. You should be able to twist the cover and expose the battery area.
